Learn about Café Forte e Gentile

Café Forte e Gentile was founded by Joe and Mary Anne Scurti in 2021 and is built on the foundation of a 20-year career in the coffee industry. They are Concordia graduates in commerce and opened their first coffee shop a little over 20 years ago. This coffee shop provided a break-time refuge to executives in the heart of downtown Montreal. 

Over time and through gaining more knowledge of what makes a good cup of coffee, the dream of creating their own line of coffees came to the forefront. Many hours of roasting, taste testing and thought led to the signature line offered today. The coffee, proudly roasted in Montreal, is a true labour of love.

The name Café Forte e Gentile is a nod to the words once used to describe the people of the village in central Italy where Joe's family is from. The people of the village were said to be “strong and kind.” Although simple, these words were chosen as the name of the business because they evoke the central values that we hope to embody. Our hope is to bring great tasting coffee to the community, which has proven to be so resilient through the events of the last couple of years and to give back in any way we can.
