How It Started
Café Forte e Gentile was founded in Montreal by Joe and Mary Anne Scurti. The inspiration for the name came from the words used to describe the people of the town in central Italy, where the Scurti family has its origins. A 20-year career in the coffee industry has inspired the Scurtis to create their own line of finely roasted blends to bring the love of coffee to the communities of Greater Montreal, the North Shore and the South Shore of Montreal.

What does Fairtrade mean to you? To us, it means giving an opportunity to farmers to choose sustainable practices; otherwise, they would have to prioritize costs. As a small business, this means so much to us. Our Machu Pichu and Cafés des Amériques blends are Fairtrade certified. We also aim to have one more of these in future.
